During high school a friend of mine became a somewhat adoptive part of the family. The island that she and her parents lived on had no high school so she was forced to come to the mainland and live with a family part of the time. She and I barely knew each other, but I could tell we would be great friends, so I imposed upon my parents another teenager to take care of. Little did I know, our families would become very close. This dear friend of mine, has become as close to me as a sister, fights and all. When I moved to the opposite side of the country after high school it was difficult to say goodbye. This was painted shortly after my move, it is based on an old photograph from the years when we shared a family.
